Two suspects alleged to be involved in the holdup and robbing of Simbu Governor Michael Dua earlier this month have been arrested by police in Lae on Sunday.

Lae Metropolitan Superintendent Chief Inspector Chris Kunyanban says the arrest was made after NCD police advised their counterparts in Lae of a tip-off that the suspects were to board a flight to Lae.

Governor Dua was robbed at 8mile in Port Moresby. The robbers took his pistol, K20, 000 in cash, and other personal items totaling up to about K250, 000.

A follow up raid by police on the suspects’ hours later led to the shooting of a policeman.

Met Supt Kunyanban says the two men will be flown back to Port Moresby where they will be charged.
