POLICE RESCUE WOMAN TORTURED OVER SOCCERY ACCUSATIONS

A 63-year-old woman, accused of and tortured over socery claims, has been rescued by police in NCD today.

Speaking to FM100 News today, NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Gideon Ikumu says the (named) victim had been accused of socery over the death of (John Kaupa), a son of a prominent businessmen in the Kone Newtown area.

The vicitm had been held in captivity since last Wednesday.  

Whilst condemning the act, Ikumu reveals police had acted on a tip off from the PNG Tribal Foundation Care.  

Ikumu says when police recovered the victim, she had severe burns and knife wounds after been tied and assaulted for days. 

Along with her was another woman, whose house was broken down by the torturers, who also accused the other woman of being part of the socery act.  

Police confirm both have recieved medical treatment, and are now in the custody of the PNG Tribal Foundation for care and safety.

Meantime, about 10 suspects have already been apprehended and detained at the Waigani Police Station.
