The 5th National Census will be rolled out on the 11th of July 2021.

The decision was made by the National Statics Office after the National Executive Council gave deliberate actions to be taken.

According to the National Statistician John Igitoi, there are various reasons why the National Census has been moved to next year.

State of emergency, lockdown and restrictions in provinces throughout the country has led to a stop in National Statistic Office.

Funding from the government to carry out this operation is also an issue.

Mr. Igitoi reiterated the statement by the Minister for National Planning Sam Basil recently, that the National Census has now been moved to next year.

He said communication is vital to carry out this project.

“The NSO needs to have close communication with the provinces in order to carry out the project as there is a lot be done,” he said.
