IT was a life changing experience for women’s groups from all across the country that gathered in Goroka for the 9th Assembly of God Women’s National Convention at the National Sports Institute from September 23rd to 27th.

Guest Speaker Josie George who made the trip to Goroka with her two year old son described the week-long event as an inspirational one with hundreds of women making the trip to the Eastern Highlands capital to participate.

The event saw the women groups praying together, sharing inspirational messages, discussing issues such as gender equality and women empowerment and also marching on the streets of Goroka spreading the gospel.

Ms George said she made the trip to Goroka by travelling on a boat from Wewak to Madang and then catching a PMV bus to Goroka.

She said she didn’t have money to travel so she prayed to God who made sure her trip was possible.

Another participant from East New Britain, Patricia Tilip said a total of 18 women travelled all the way from their province to attend the convention.

Ms. Tilip said they feel that the convention is special because a lot of talk or discussion is to help them follow the path of righteousness.

She said they hope to take back all the good talk that was discussed and be role models in their respective communities.

Tilip said the convention will also them to prepare for the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
