A man and woman have been arrested by police for breaching SoE protocols in Port Moresby.

NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Perou N’dranou says the matter was reported by the security managers at the Holiday Inn Hotel on the 31st of May, 2020.

He says the man, Japhet Warus, 27, of mixed parentage of Morobe and Gulf Provinces arrived from Brisbane and was under the 14 day quarantine at the hotel when the woman went to see him at his room.

The woman was identified as Samantha Karan, 28, from Manus and Central Province.

It was reported that the woman who was having drinks at the hotel at the time, went over to the man’s room where an argument ensued.

The woman then walked out when the security manager of the hotel noticed and questioned her before police were notified.

Upon questioning, she admitted knowing that the man was under quarantine but went about to see him.

She was then also put in quarantine for 14 days before being arrested and charged with the man under section 6 of the Emergency General Provision Act.

The two are employees of a commercial bank in the country.
