The Southern Highlands Provincial Administration has closed office today. The closure is for two weeks.

According to a circular from Provincial Administrator Jerry David, all Divisional Heads and their staff have to observe the two week lock down.

The circular also states the lockdown may be lifted on or extended from October 25th,  depending on the spread of COVID-19 Delta variant, which is now affecting the Eastern Highlands Province, and other centres and provinces in the country.

Mr David reveals that the lockdown is also becasue of the COVID-19 infection and related deaths of a  number of public servants in the Provincial Administration.

He adds that only emergency functions of the government will be attended to by the respective divisions.
