KAIWI TO BE MOVED TO BOMANA AND REQUESTS FOR CONTROL OVER SOCIAL MEDIA

Lawyer representing Bhosip Kaiwi requested The Waigani Committal Court today  for an order to control posts and statements regarding the murder of late Jennelyn Kennedy case on social media especially Facebook.

Magistrate Tracy Ganai says the courts has no control over social media and ask that the lawyers take up others processes if they are aggrieved by social media.

Also in court today Kaiwi’s lawyer requested if his client can be detained at the Boroko Police cell instead of Bomana.

The reason being his client feared for his safety and security.

This request was denied by the magistrate who said a warrant of remand is being issued the transfer to Bomana as the initial police work of arrest and charge is complete and that there is no need for him to be detained at Boroko.

Magistrate Ganai says that arrangements for Bhosip to be detained separately from other remandees at Bomana can be discussed with the Correctional Services

Bhosip Kaiwi’s is being charged with Willful Murder and this morning he appeared at the Waigani Committal court.

The committal court was packed with people, family, friends, relatives and the media. 

Mr Kaiwi was brought in an unmarked vehicle used by CID officers. He was led out of the vehicle with a white cloth covering his head and face.

At the court room Magistrate Tracy Ganai read out his charges and asked if Mr Kaiwi understood them.

Mr Kaiwi responded by saying that he did.

This case has been adjourned to the 30th July.
