Incoming passengers to be fitted with GPS tracking ankle bracelet

Incoming passengers will be fitted with a GPS tracking ankle bracelet upon arrival for the designated quarantine period.

This instruction was issued by the Controller of the National Pandemic Response, David Manning as a condition of entry and to effectively monitor flights.

Mr Manning said the cost will be borne by the passengers and companies for the period of the quarantine.

The direction came into effect yesterday, commencing with an Air Niugini Charter flight carrying 152 foreign workers into Port Moresby.

Mr Manning said non compliance with this direction can result in a fine not exceeding K50, 000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years.
