A Chinese woman is currently being locked up at the Boroko Police station after she was found to have breached her visa conditions and violating visa rules and regulations.

Immigration Minister Westly Nukundj directed the Special Investigation Team to investigate a Ply wood factory at Laloki outside of Port Moresby, after complaints were rtaised on social media about the mistreatment of PNG workers at the factory.

While implementing the directive and in the process of the inspection, the Special Investigation Team apprehended the woman who is the supervisor of the factory.

The woman is being charged for breaching visa conditions but investigations into claims of mistreatment and abuse of PNG workers continue

Minister Nukundj says Immigrations Department will come down very hard on foreigners who continue to abuse their visa conditions.

“ I encouraged all citizens to use all media sources to report illegal activities of foreigners which has some element of threat to the national security.

'’This is the first positive sign and more of such will continue if citizens provide factual information ".

"I want to remind all citizens and foreigners that my officers are not sleeping as they are working around the clock in monitoring issues of border security”

Immigrations focus now is to investigate and identify illegal immigrants with fake visas and mainly those immigrants whose conduct and actions are a threat to national security.
